MSP Patch Rollout Checklist

A quick, practical checklist MSPs can use to reduce risk when deploying patches and software. (This page is intentionally simple — it’s meant to be shared after signup.)

Before rollout

• Define rings: pilot → small → standard → critical.
• Set maintenance windows and max deferral rules.
• Confirm backup/restore posture for high-impact clients.
• Decide your rollback plan: uninstall path / restore snapshot.

During rollout

• Track success/fail by tenant, device group, and app/update.
• Pause on elevated failure rates (don’t “power through”).
• Record exceptions and approvals.

After rollout

• Generate a customer-ready report (what changed, what failed, what’s deferred).
• Capture known-issues list + remediation steps.
• Update your app catalog versions and baselines.
